12 Best AI SEO Agencies in 2026

Twelve AEO and GEO agencies scored on measurement, evidence, off-site work, pricing transparency and fit, plus which ones ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI name.

By Andrew Hong. Last updated 5 September 2026. We re-score this post quarterly!

An AI SEO agency gets your business named and cited when a customer asks an assistant who to hire, by fixing your site, your profiles, and the third-party sources the assistant reads.

One thing separates them: whether they can show you an AI answer naming a client.

Below, twelve agencies scored on five public criteria. For B2B software, Omniscient and NoGood. For local and multi-location, Thrive and Searchbloom. For owner-operated and multi-location businesses nationally, Tobe, which is us, and we scored ourselves by the same rules.

The twelve at a glance

Scores are out of 50, five criteria at ten points each, all from public sources on 3 September 2026. Every sub-score is shown, so you can check any total yourself, or re-score an agency we did not include.

Scored by the same rules, on the same day, but not ranked with them

We are the authors, so we have left ourselves out of the ranking rather than put our own name at the top of it. The score is published in full, by the same rules, and the author note below says exactly what we changed on our own page in the week before scoring day. Judge it accordingly.

Meas is measurement, Evid is evidence, Price is pricing transparency. Published pricing for every agency is in the cost section below. Ties are broken by evidence, then measurement, then off-site, then pricing, and finally by whether the agency publishes an actual answer capture rather than a figure alone.

How we scored them

Five criteria, ten points each, chosen because a buyer can check every one of them without a sales call. Here are the rules, written out, so you can apply them to any agency including the ones not on this list.

Measurement (10). Names the tool and publishes a metric such as Share of Answer, citation share, or mentions: 10. Names a tool only: 6. Says it tracks AI visibility with nothing named: 3. Nothing: 0.

Evidence (10). A published AI answer capture, or a named case study with an AI-visibility figure: 10. The same with the client anonymized: 8. A case study with traffic figures only: 5. Testimonials only: 2. None: 0.

Off-site work (10). The offer explicitly covers directories, reviews, community, PR and entity consistency: 10. On-page and content only: 4.

Pricing transparency (10). A published price or minimum for the AI offer: 10. A published SEO minimum: 7. A starts-at figure on any service: 5. Nothing: 0.

Fit for a business doing $5M to $20M (10). Publishes client sizes or minimums that fit, and names mid-market clients: 10. Enterprise only: 4. Unclear: 5.

Sources: each agency's own site, its Clutch and DesignRush profiles, and Tobe's own Peec tracking, all checked on 3 September 2026. Tobe scored itself by the same rules, and the scores were set before the list was ordered.

Inclusion rule: an agency is here if the AI engines named it in our sample, or it appears on two or more independent lists, or it publishes checkable AI evidence. Tobe is included as the author and labelled as such. Agencies that were scored but met none of those tests are named in the author note with their scores, including one that ties an agency on this list and outscores three others.

The eleven, ranked

1. NoGood, 44 out of 50

New York, with Miami and Dubai, founded 2016, 70-plus staff.

NoGood is the clearest example on this list of an agency that measures its own work and shows it. Its AEO offer is built around its own platform, Goodie AI, tracking share of voice, citation rate and brand mention frequency.

What it can show: a named SteelSeries case with a 23x increase in year-over-year AI search traffic, Perplexity visibility from 44 to 77, ChatGPT from 51 to 73 and Gemini from 62 to 85 over ten months, with ChatGPT screenshots. Off-site work is in scope: earned media, digital PR, citation building, community and reputation.

Price posture: its homepage states an average retainer above $20,000 a month. The plain limitation is that number, which puts it out of reach for most owner-operated businesses. It also publishes its own best-AEO list and scores itself 96.3 on it. Best for funded consumer and B2B brands.

2. Omniscient Digital, 44 out of 50

Austin, founded 2019, 10 to 49 staff.

Omniscient is the most disciplined B2B software shop here on the question of proof. Its GEO offer names both Peec AI and Ahrefs as the measurement stack and reports LLM visibility and AI citation share.

What it can show: a named Convert case moving prompt visibility from 31% to 55% and citation share from 15% to 35% in sixty days. No answer screenshots, though the named client figures meet the top evidence tier. That is the only thing separating it from NoGood, and it is why NoGood is listed first. Off-site work is explicit, including backlinks, PR and what it calls citation engineering.

Price posture: full-service engagements start at $10,000 a month, published on both the homepage and the GEO page, which is rarer than it should be. The limitation is that floor and a client list built around funded B2B software. Best for B2B SaaS with budget.

3. Searchbloom, 37 out of 50

South Jordan, Utah, founded 2014, 10 to 49 staff.

Searchbloom publishes the clearest public definition of AI SEO on this list, describing it as the umbrella for AEO and GEO and the discipline of getting cited by AI systems. It names its measurement stack openly: Peec AI for measurement, corroborated with Ahrefs Brand Radar, reporting citation share and AI share of voice monthly.

What it can show on AI: nothing, as of the date checked. It has 28 case studies and none of them mention AI, citations or AI Overviews. That is the gap that costs it ten points, and it is the reason an agency this strong on every other criterion does not score higher. Off-site work is strong and specific, including digital PR into the roundups and industry sources answer engines pull from, with G2, Clutch, Reddit and Quora named.

Price posture: SEO starts at $3,000 a month; the AEO and GEO pricing is not published. Best for local and multi-location businesses. Worth knowing: it is the source AI cites most for this question, which we cover below.

4. Thrive, 36 out of 50

Arlington, Texas, founded 2005, 160-plus staff.

Thrive has the widest service coverage here and the clearest commitment to local and multi-location businesses, with separate pages for ChatGPT, Gemini, AI Mode and AI Overviews. Its AI SEO offer is described as fully managed generative engine optimization.

What it can show: anonymized cases with real AI metrics, including a Northwest Arkansas medical group with a 2,658% increase in Google AI Overview citations and 1,000 additional total AI citations in six months, and a shoe company with 876% more engaged sessions from ChatGPT. Off-site is covered: listings management, digital PR, reputation management and link building.

Price posture: described as affordable and flexible, with form budgets starting under $750 and a Clutch minimum of $1,000-plus. The limitations are that no measurement tool is named anywhere and the case studies are anonymized. Best for businesses from startup to multi-location.

5. Grow and Convert, 35 out of 50

San Diego, founded 2016, 10 to 49 staff.

Grow and Convert does the one thing almost nobody else on this list does: it publishes actual AI answer screenshots. Its AI SEO and AI Citation Outreach services are measured with its own tool, Traqer.ai, reporting per-prompt LLM position and citation frequency.

What it can show: named Constitution Lending and Level AI cases with ChatGPT, Perplexity and AI Overview screenshots, and a claim of top-three AI recommendations across more than fifty bottom-of-funnel queries. Off-site work is explicit: outreach to get the brand mentioned in the sources LLMs cite.

Price posture: not published, with a Clutch minimum of $10,000-plus, which is the whole reason it scores zero on that criterion despite strong marks everywhere else. The limitation is that opacity. Best for SaaS and ecommerce companies that can meet the minimum.

6. Siege Media, 34 out of 50

Austin, founded 2012, 50 to 249 staff.

Siege has the sharpest articulation of the problem on this list: LLMs do not invent answers, they quote sources, so the job is to become a source worth quoting. It tracks LLM share of voice in category prompts monthly and names Peec in its Zendesk case.

What it can show: Zendesk appearing in 98% of industry-specific queries, Instacart at 46.5k LLM citations, Zapier at 96% LLM visibility. Named clients with real figures, though no answer captures. Off-site is thorough, including digital PR, disclosed and brand-forward Reddit and community work, and affiliate placements.

Price posture: not published; its Clutch minimum reads $5,000-plus, which does not count under our rules because it is not the agency publishing. One data-quality note, stated as a fact: one case study's title and page metric disagree (250,000 ChatGPT visits against 124K sessions), so neither figure was used in scoring. Best for large SaaS and ecommerce brands.

7. Optimist, 32 out of 50

Des Moines, founded 2016, a freelancer network of around twenty.

Optimist is the most transparent on price of any agency here, and it is honest about using industry tools rather than pretending to a proprietary platform. Its AEO service is aimed at B2B technology companies getting found, cited and recommended across answer engines, with share-of-voice and recommendation-rate measurement as a deliverable.

What it can show: one unnamed B2B technology client with a 4,900% increase in LLM referral revenue over fourteen months and 2,622% growth in LLM referral traffic. Impressive figures, though revenue and traffic rather than visibility, and no screenshots.

Price posture: advisory retainers from $3,000 a month, full-service from $4,000, and a one-time roadmap from $7,500, all published. The real limitation is scope: off-site work is not included, only entity graph and brand signal consistency, and off-site is the leg the assistants lean on hardest. Best for B2B SaaS wanting advisory.

8. Directive, 31 out of 50

Irvine, founded 2013, 100 to 150 staff.

Directive frames the problem well for B2B: its DiscoverabilityOS is about winning visibility wherever buyers research and shortlist, from AI answers and organic search through to reviews. Reviews and comparison sites are in scope, which matters more than most agencies admit.

What it can show: a named Case Status client with a 20% lift in bookings and 135% quarter-on-quarter demo conversions, plus a 56% lift in AI search visibility on its own site. Those are business figures rather than client AI-visibility figures, which is what holds the evidence score down. It names Scrunch as the measurement tool in one case study, though nothing appears on the offer page itself.

Price posture: not published, with typical Clutch projects between $10,000 and $49,999. The limitation is that the measurement approach is not described where a buyer would look for it, and PR sits in a separate division. Best for B2B companies in the mid-market and above.

9. First Page Sage, 25 out of 50

Berkeley, founded 2009, 50 to 249 staff.

First Page Sage runs what looks like the most rigorous measurement panel on this list: a proprietary weekly panel tracking recommendation share across ChatGPT, Claude and Google AI Overviews. That is real methodology, and it is a shame no tool is named to go with it. Our measurement rule rewards naming the tool, so a genuinely strong approach scores low here. Worth knowing when you read the number.

What it can show: seven anonymized GEO cases, including a plastic surgeon going from 11% to 64% across a 31-query panel with $2.3M in incremental surgical revenue attributed. Strong figures, anonymized, no screenshots. Off-site work is covered through content creation, list and database outreach, and reputation monitoring.

Price posture: not published, with a Clutch minimum of $10,000-plus. Two facts worth stating: the cases are anonymized, and the Clutch profile showed no reviews as of the date checked despite the firm's size. Best for enterprise and well-funded companies.

10. Animalz, 17 out of 50

New York, founded 2015, remote, around seventeen named staff.

Animalz has a deserved reputation for content quality in B2B SaaS, and the engines still name it in about a fifth of the answers we sampled. Its AEO service is described as making a brand visible in AI answers.

What it can show: no AI evidence was found on its site as of the date checked. Its twelve customer stories report traffic or leads. No measurement tool is named on the service page, though its glossary calls citation rate the core AEO performance metric and names Profound and Ahrefs as examples.

One sign of how quickly the tactics are moving: its service page describes tastefully contributing to popular Reddit threads, while its chief executive published a March 2026 post titled Why We Gave Up On Reddit For AEO, noting Reddit is 1.8% of ChatGPT citations. Both are live on its own site, which is worth knowing if community work is part of what you are buying. Price posture: not published there; Clutch lists starting at $8k a month. Best for B2B SaaS content programs.

11. iPullRank, 16 out of 50

New York, founded 2014, 10 to 49 staff.

iPullRank publishes the most-cited thinking in this category, and the AI engines reflect that: it was named in more of our sampled answers than any other agency, by a wide margin. Its relevance engineering framing of GEO is widely referenced.

What it can show on AI specifically: less than most of this list. A financial-services case reports a 121% increase in sign-ups, with the client unnamed and no AI citation figure. Its metrics (information gain, citation frequency, AI referral traffic) are proprietary, with no third-party tool named, and no off-site deliverable is spelled out despite the stated view that AI models pull from everywhere.

Price posture: not published, with a Clutch minimum of $50,000-plus. The honest summary is a gap between how often AI names it and how much checkable AI-specific proof sits on the site. Our five criteria measure what an agency publishes, not what it knows, and iPullRank is the clearest case on this list of those two things coming apart. It is the right call for a $200M brand and the wrong call for a $12M one.

The author's entry: Tobe Agency, 48 out of 50

Lehi, Utah, founded 2017.

We wrote this list, so read our entry with that in mind, and read the author note, where we say exactly what we changed on our own page before scoring day. We scored ourselves by the rules above, on the same day as everyone else, and we have kept ourselves out of the ranked table. Our AI search visibility offer is about how you get recommended when someone asks ChatGPT, Gemini or Google's AI, measured as Share of Answer and citation share, reported monthly using Peec.

What we can show: client results including a dental practice moving from average position 61.9 to 13.2, a psychiatry practice cutting cost per patient lead from $121 to $37, and a Boise clinic moving from page four to page one, plus one anonymized AI answer capture. Off-site is the core of the offer, because PR, social, local, paid and web all have to say the same thing.

Price posture: published. The Grow Smarter Engine starts at $3,750 a quarter (Monitor) or $3,750 a month (Core), plus $1,750 onboarding. The limitations, plainly: we are at 0% on the AI-search-agency topic this article scores, we do not run channels for Grow Smarter Engine clients, and we are not a fit under $5M in revenue or for enterprise teams needing execution across a dozen channels. Best for established owner-operators and multi-location businesses nationally, plus luxury real estate agents.

Which of these agencies AI names

This is the part no other list on this SERP can publish, and it is the most useful section here for a buyer. We track AI answers with Peec. For this article we read 48 answers in full, from four tracked which-agency prompts across four dates between 20 August and 2 September 2026, spanning ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews (some served as AI Mode) and Gemini.

Agency Answers naming it (of 48) Engines Listed first
iPullRank 28 (58%) All three 14
First Page Sage 19 (40%) All three 1
Omniscient Digital 15 (31%) All three 1
Siege Media 14 (29%) All three 1
NoGood 13 (27%) All three 1
Optimist 11 (23%) All three 3
Animalz 10 (21%) All three 0
Thrive 9 (19%) Gemini and Google only 6
Directive 9 (19%) All three 1
Tobe Agency 0 None 0

Sixty-eight agencies were named at least once, forty-one of them exactly once, mostly small shops pulled from agency self-directories. A stable core of seven dominates the two best-agency prompts on every engine.

The finding that matters most. The agencies AI recommends are, to a large degree, the agencies that published the lists AI reads. Of 251 source domains in the sample, almost every high-frequency source is an agency's own best-AEO-or-GEO listicle that ranks itself first. Optimist's site alone was the source for 14 of the 48 answers. ChatGPT flagged the self-ranking in several answers and named the agencies anyway. That is the honest reason this scorecard exists, and the reason we published our rules and kept ourselves out of the ranking.

Searchbloom is cited more than it is named. It is the source AI reaches for most on this question in our wider tracking, and it was named as an agency once in 48 answers. The assistants read its list, not its results.

iPullRank leads on naming, not on published proof. It was listed first in 14 answers, more than any other agency, and it scores last on our five criteria. Both things are true and both belong in a buyer's thinking.

Two assistants, two different lists. Thrive appears in Gemini and Google-surfaced answers and never once in ChatGPT in our sample. A buyer who asks two assistants gets two different shortlists, which is the argument for measuring across engines rather than trusting one.

And us. Tobe was named in none of the 48 answers and cited by none of the 251 sources. That is the baseline we re-score against every quarter.

One note on the fourth prompt: the audit question is answered with software rather than agencies. Profound led at 21%, followed by Ahrefs AI Visibility Checker and Brand Radar, HubSpot's free AI Search Grader, and Otterly. Half the Google and Gemini answers to that prompt named no agency at all.

What AI SEO costs in 2026

Only five of the twelve publish a price for the AI offer, which tells you something on its own. Here is what is public, grouped by the size of business it fits.

Owner-operated and multi-location local. Thrive takes form budgets starting under $750 with a Clutch minimum of $1,000-plus. Searchbloom publishes SEO from $3,000 a month, with AEO and GEO not published. Tobe publishes its AI offer from $3,750 a quarter, plus $1,750 onboarding. Optimist starts advisory at $3,000 a month and full-service at $4,000.

Funded and mid-market. Omniscient states full-service engagements from $10,000 a month. Grow and Convert and First Page Sage do not publish, both with Clutch minimums of $10,000-plus. Directive's typical Clutch projects run $10,000 to $49,999.

Enterprise. NoGood states an average retainer above $20,000 a month. iPullRank does not publish, with a Clutch minimum of $50,000-plus.

What the money buys, at any level, is four things: measurement you can see, content built to be quoted, off-site work on the sources the assistant reads, and reporting that shows movement. If a proposal is missing one of the four, ask why.

Six questions to ask before you sign

1. Show me an AI answer that names a client. Not a traffic chart. The answer itself.

2. Which tool measures it, and can I see the dashboard?

3. What do you fix off my site? Directories, reviews, community, PR, entity consistency.

4. Who does the work, and who do I talk to when something is wrong?

5. What happens month to month, in plain terms?

6. What will you tell me if I am not a fit?

These six are the ones you can check before the first call.

Best by need

AI Overviews and Google AI Mode.

Thrive, which has dedicated pages and published AI Overview citation figures.

ChatGPT and Perplexity citations.

Grow and Convert, the only one publishing answer captures across both, and NoGood for measured visibility movement.

Local businesses and Google Business Profile.

Searchbloom and Thrive, both built for local and multi-location work.

Real estate agents.

Tobe, which runs a dedicated real estate program.

Owner-operated and multi-location businesses nationally.

Tobe, on fit and published pricing.

Enterprise B2B.

iPullRank and Siege Media for scale, Directive for B2B demand, First Page Sage for measurement rigor.

The terms, defined

AI SEO. The umbrella term for getting a business found, cited and recommended by AI systems. It covers the same fundamentals as search engine optimization, aimed at being quotable rather than only rankable. It matters because people search in sentences now.

AEO, answer engine optimization. Making sure an answer engine can find, verify and recommend you, so that when it answers a question in your category your business is one of the names it gives.

GEO, generative engine optimization. Earning a place inside the generated answer itself, including the citations underneath it.

AI visibility. Whether, and how often, an assistant names or cites you across a set of tracked prompts. It is measured by running the prompts repeatedly rather than by reading your analytics.

Share of Answer. The share of tracked answers in your category that name you, the AI equivalent of share of voice. Citation share is the related measure of how often your site is one of the sources quoted.

Frequently asked questions

Which agency can help my business show up in ChatGPT and AI search results?

That depends on your size and where your customers ask. For B2B software, Omniscient Digital and NoGood publish the most measured proof. For local and multi-location businesses, Thrive and Searchbloom. For owner-operated and multi-location businesses nationally and luxury real estate, Tobe, which is us. Ask any of them to show you an AI answer that names a client.

What is the best agency for AI search optimization or answer engine optimization (AEO/GEO)?

There is no single best. On our five public criteria, NoGood and Omniscient Digital score highest of the ranked agencies at 44 out of 50, on the strength of named measurement tools, published figures and off-site work in scope. The right answer for you depends on budget and whether the agency serves businesses your size, which is why the table above shows fit as its own score.

What is the best agency for AI search visibility and answer engine optimization for B2B companies?

Omniscient Digital, NoGood, Directive and Optimist all focus on B2B. Omniscient names Peec and Ahrefs and publishes a client visibility figure; NoGood publishes answer screenshots and visibility movement; Directive covers reviews and comparison sites; Optimist is the most transparent on price. Match them to your budget and whether you need off-site work included.

What is an AI SEO agency?

An agency that gets your business named and cited when a customer asks an AI assistant who to hire. The work covers your website, your profiles and reviews, and the third-party sources the assistant reads, plus measurement of whether you are being named.

What is the difference between AEO, GEO and AI SEO?

AI SEO is the umbrella. AEO is making sure an answer engine can find, verify and recommend you. GEO is earning a place inside the generated answer and its citations. In practice most agencies use all three terms for overlapping work.

How much does AI SEO cost?

Published figures on this list run from under $750 a month at the entry end to above $20,000 a month at the enterprise end. Mid-market engagements commonly start around $3,000 to $10,000 a month. Only five of the twelve publish a price at all, so ask early.

How long until an AI assistant names my business?

Citation share, meaning what the assistant quotes about you, tends to move first, often within weeks of new mentions and reviews being read. Being named consistently takes longer and depends on your category's competitiveness. Anyone promising a date is guessing.

Did Tobe Agency write and score this list?

Yes. We wrote it, we scored ourselves by the same published rules on the same day as everyone else, and we scored 48 out of 50. We have kept ourselves out of the ranked table, because a list whose author sits at the top of it is the exact thing this article is arguing against. In the week before scoring day we made two changes to our own page that the rules reward: we named our measurement tool and published an AI answer capture. We are telling you the timing so you can weigh it. We were also named in none of the 48 AI answers we sampled, which we have said in the section above. The rules are published so you can re-score any agency here, including us.

A note from the author

I built this because I got tired of best-agency lists where the author happens to be first and nobody explains how they got there. The five criteria above are things you can check yourself in an afternoon, on public pages, without a sales call. We scored ourselves with them and came out at 48 out of 50, and we left ourselves out of the ranking so you do not have to take that on trust.

Twelve of those points arrived the week before scoring day, because we finally did the two things the rules reward: named our measurement tool on our offer page and published an AI answer capture. Both were overdue. I am telling you the timing so you can weigh it however you like.

Four agencies were scored and left off: Coalition Technologies at 31, Go Fish Digital at 26, Avalaunch Media at 21 and Amsive at 14. Coalition ties Directive and outscores three agencies on this list, and it is not here because the AI engines never named it in our sample. We re-score every quarter and publish the changes. If something here is out of date, tell me and I will fix it.

Where to start

If you are shopping, use the six questions. Ask every agency on your shortlist to show you an AI answer that names a client, and notice how many cannot. If you would rather see where you stand before you talk to anyone, our free Grow Smarter Assessment reads your site, your profiles and your third-party footprint and tells you which part is weak and what to fix first, whether you hire us or not.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I have both a traffic problem & a conversion problem at the same time?

A: Technically yes, but one is always more urgent. If you have almost no traffic, fixing conversions first won't matter because there's nobody to convert. Start with traffic. Once you're getting 500+ sessions per month, then optimize for conversions.
